Clyde William West went to be with His Heavenly Father on June 16, 2017. He was born July 01, 1921 to John R. and Lillie Maud West in Refugio, Texas. In his teens, Clyde worked as a cattle rancher before he entered the United States Army in 1941. He was an honored member of the Company B 35th Engineers Battalion where he fought in World War II in areas including Northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and Central Europe. Many years later (September 1, 2010) he received recognition for being honored with several medals to include the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, European-African-Middle East (EAME) Medal with four Bronze Service Stars, World War II Victory Medal and Honorable Service lapel button for WWII. Upon receiving an Honorable discharge, he returned home eventually marrying the love of his life, Della Grace West in 1946. Clyde was a hard working man providing for his family and eventually retired after 34 years of service from Brazos Oil & Gas, Dow Chemical Oil & Gas and Apache Corporation. Clyde and Grace spent the next 68 years together and moved to Kenedy, Victoria and eventually Caldwell where they spent their last days enjoying the company of their family.

Clyde touched many lives during his 95 years and will always be remembered for his humor, smile and kindness. He is survived by one sister, Dorothy, of Victoria, his daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Scott Hendrickson, of Caldwell, granddaughter, Lori Bowman and husband GeDon Bowman, of Iola, one great-granddaughter, Emily Bowman, of Iola, sister-in-law, Pearl Stapleton, as well as several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Della Grace West; parents, John and Lillie West; brothers, Michael West, Phillip West, Joseph West, Clark West and Jessie West.

Visitation will start at 11:00 am Tuesday, June 20, 2017 followed by funeral services at 12:00 pm at Rosewood Funeral Chapel in Victoria, Texas.

Graveside services with full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the Calhoun County Combined Honor Guard will follow at 2 pm at Seadrift Cemetery.
